Black Veil Brides

Black Veil Brides formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2006, built from the start around founder Andy Biersack's theatrical, glam-inspired image — black-and-white makeup, studded leather, and towering hair drawn from '80s icons like Kiss and Mötley Crüe. The band's name nods to a Catholic tradition in which a woman symbolically renounces worldly pleasure to devote herself to a higher calling, a fitting metaphor for a band built on theatrical sacrifice for the sake of the show. They relocated from Ohio to Hollywood, California not long after forming, and have been based there since.

Their 2010 debut, We Stitch These Wounds, cracked the Billboard 200's top 40 in its first week out. The follow-up, Set the World on Fire (2011), pushed them further into the mainstream — its title track landed a spot on the Transformers: Dark of the Moon soundtrack — before 2013's concept album Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones became their commercial peak, reaching No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and spinning off a companion film, Legion of the Black.

Across a self-titled 2014 record, the harder-edged Vale (2018), and 2020's re-recorded 10th-anniversary edition of their debut, the band's sound has shifted while its lineup has largely settled around Biersack, guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Jinxx, and lead guitarist Jake Pitts. Drummer Christian "CC" Coma joined in 2010, and bassist Lonny Eagleton stepped in for longtime member Ashley Purdy in 2019.

The Phantom Tomorrow (2021) and 2024's Bleeders EP — their first release after signing to Spinefarm Records — kept the band active through the 2020s, followed by their eighth studio album, Vindicate, in 2026.
